A Closer Look: "Heroes of the Faith"

“This year, we offered a grade 4-7 course on ‘Heros of the Faith.’ This class featured actors and storytellers from the church introducing men and women of faith, leaders and martyrs. The students loved the variety, and they were able to see how the work of one leader influenced the next, and how world events impacted the church. The actors learned as well, as they created costumes, brought props and put on accents to bring the ‘hero’ to life.”

What is Confirmation Class?

Our Confirmation Class is offered to youth in 7th grade and above. Confirmation is the affirmation of the work of the Holy Spirit that calls us to community. It is a journey of faith that starts with an individual commitment and continues to shape us as we seek to live into our baptisms as a part of the Body of Christ.

Confirmation is an experience, rather than an event, that affirms the act of baptism. Confirmation involves a time of self-reflection within a community, guided study, and giving voice to our faith. The confirmation experience should celebrate life in the Spirit as part of one’s continuing faith journey.

Our goal is not for the confirmands to just join the church but to be able to articulate their faith at this particular time and place and to live into the claim of their baptism.
