Dr. Jill Ulrici
The Rev. Dr. Jill Ulrici, a native of Atlanta, came to Covenant as the Associate pastor in 2000 and has focused on ministry to women and spiritual development of members. She believes that the inward and outward journey of faith should go hand in hand. Jill enjoys traveling, yoga, reading, movies, being with friends old and new and especially their 11-year-old dog, Honey.
Jill was ordained as a Presbyterian (USA) minister in 1983 and has served congregations in the Atlanta area as well as New York City, Brooklyn, NY and Cleveland, Ohio. Jill is also a Physical Therapist which has led to her particular interest and study in the relationship between the body, mind and spirit. During her years at Covenant, Jill has been very involved in the interfaith community in Atlanta. She served for two years as the president of the Faith Alliance of Metro Atlanta Board, which consists of Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, and Sikhs in the Atlanta area committed to fostering understanding between the different faith groups and working together on common concerns. She has taught several classes at Covenant on interfaith topics as well provided opportunities for church members to get to know those of other faiths. She believes that” Interfaith work is not just about learning what others believe from an intellectual curiosity. It is about providing the ministry of hospitality to the ‘other’”.
Jill grew up in Atlanta. She attended the University of Georgia but graduated from the Medical College of Georgia with a BS in Physical Therapy. She received her MDiv from Yale Divinity School and her DMin from Columbia Theological Seminary. She is married to Deryck Durston, a Lutheran pastor in the ELCA who is originally from Johannesburg, South Africa and is currently serving as an Interim Pastor at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Alpharetta, GA .
