Interim Pastor & Head of Staff

Richard came to Covenant in January 2016. He enjoys bringing a sense of vitality to worship and building new friendships. Richard likes spending time with his family—traveling, exercising, and eating. He is also an avid FSU football fan and loves to hike.

Full Biography

Rev. Dr. Richard Hill was ordained as a Presbyterian (USA) minister in 1987 and has served several churches in the Atlanta area including Conyers Presbyterian, Atlanta First Presbyterian, and Roswell Presbyterian as Associate Pastor. For thirteen years he was the mission pastor at Roswell; and therefore, he holds a strong belief that the easiest way to “meet” Christ and to grow in faith is in serving the “least of our brothers and sisters.” Over the last eight years, Richard served as the interim pastor at several churches: Buford Presbyterian, Moorings Presbyterian (Naples, Florida), Timberridge Presbyterian in McDonough, and Macland Presbyterian in Powder Springs.   Originally, Richard grew up in Quincy, Florida. He attended Georgia Tech but graduated from Emory University with a BA in Psychology. He holds an MDiv from Columbia Theological Seminary and a DMin from Bakke Graduate University. His wife, Penny, is a Presbyterian minister as well and serves as Executive Presbyter of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta. They have two sons and are fortunate to have both living in-town: Nicholas who is a lawyer with King & Spalding and is married to Kenan; and Philip who is a real estate agent.
